Stack Monitors
Monitor Akamai CDN with Crowswatch
Monitor CDN performance, security events, and edge traffic metrics across your Akamai properties directly from Crowswatch.
What This Integration Provides
- Edge traffic analytics: requests, bandwidth, and response codes across properties
- Security events: WAF triggers, DDoS mitigation, and bot activity
- Cache performance: hit rate, offload percentage, and origin traffic
- DNS & GTM: query volume and traffic management decisions
- Origin health: availability and response time from edge to origin
Requirements
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Akamai Control Center account | Admin or read-only access |
| EdgeGrid API credentials | Client token, client secret, access token, and host |
| Property / CP code | For the properties you want to monitor |
| Estimated setup time | ~10 minutes |
Step 1: Generate Credentials
Akamai uses EdgeGrid authentication for API access.
- Log in to Akamai Control Center
- Navigate to Account Admin → Identity & Access
- Click Create API Client
- Select Read-Only access for: Media Delivery Reports, Edge Diagnostics, DataStream
- Click Create Client and download the
.edgercfile - The file will contain:
client_token,client_secret,access_token,host
Keep these credentials secure, as they provide read access to your Akamai account.
Step 2: Locate Required IDs
CP Code
- In Control Center, go to CDN → Properties
- Select a property. The CP Code is shown in the property overview
Property ID
- Navigate to CDN → Properties and open the relevant property

| Client Secret | From your .edgerc file |
| Access Token | From your .edgerc file |
| CP Code | The CP Code for the property to monitor |

Troubleshooting
Authentication error
Verify all four EdgeGrid credentials are correct (host, client token, client secret, access token). Ensure the API client has not been deactivated in Control Center.
No data appearing
Confirm the CP Code is associated with an active property. Check that the API client has access to the Media Delivery Reports API.
Partial metrics missing
Some metrics require specific API products to be enabled on your Akamai contract. Contact your Akamai account team if certain APIs are unavailable.
